2023 NFL Trade Deadline: Top Candidates and Potential Moves

Explore the latest Trade Deadline buzz and who might be on the move this year.

Brian Burns EDGE- Carolina Panthers

The Panthers current record is 0-6 and are heading into their week 7 Bye. The Panthers have to start looking at potentially trading away their Superstar Defensive Lineman in Brian Burns. This past off-season we saw the Panthers decline Trade offers for Brian Burns which included offers with multiple first rounders. Burns is one of the best at his position in the entire league, so there should be plenty of teams interested in the Brain Burns Sweepstakes.
Here are the Teams likely in the hunt for Burns. The Detroit Lions could pair up Burns and Aidan Hutchinson to build a scary front. The Buffalo Bills would get a chance to put Brian Burns and Von Miller to make their defense even scarier. The Seattle Seahawks although they have young up and coming players like Boye Mafe, Darrell Taylor, and Derick Hall, they just don’t have a number one guy and that’s what Burns would be in Seattle. But in our opinion we have the Detroit Lions trading for Brian Burns in a package consisting of a 2024 1st Rounder, 2024 3rd Rounder, and 2025 2nd Rounder.

Chase Young EDGE- Washington Commanders

The Commanders are 3-3 heading into Week 7. Chase Young was the 2nd Overall pick in the 2020 and hasn’t played to his expectations. The Commanders could be looking to move Chase Young this Trade deadline since Young’s Contract would be over after this season. Chase Young has had flashes of potential in his early years of playing in the league. And with new ownership of the Commanders we could see the owners want nothing to do with the old Commanders and that could start with trading away Young.
Chase Young’s Value would be way lower then Brian Burns’. Here are a few teams that could be interested in Chase Young. The Baltimore Ravens could get a quality player for cheaper price then a player like Brian Burns. Even the Houston Texans could join the bid for Chase Young as they could put Chase Young and Will Anderson Jr. together. The New Orleans Saints could try and make a push to make the playoffs and Chase Young would help them with that. The Jacksonville Jaguars would be able to use Chase Young in more of an effective way then they use K'lavon Chaisson. I would believe the best situation is a trade to the Baltimore Ravens for a conditional 2025 3rd Rounder that could become a 2025 2nd Rounder if Young plays 80% of the snaps in the 2024 Season.

Danielle Hunter EDGE- Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are 2-4 with Justin Jefferson placed on IR and have almost no chance to make the playoffs. So this could lead the team deciding to part ways with veteran Danielle Hunter. Hunter has been solid with the Vikings since he was drafted by them in 2015. Hunter has currently recorded 79 Sacks for the Vikings during his tenure. Hunter is only 28 years old but his trade value would be from a low 3rd rounder to potential a late round pick.
With Danielle Hunter potentially getting traded, some teams that could be interested in him could be the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Cincinnati Bengals. Of course there would be other teams interested but these are the ones in the race. We believe that the Vikings would pull the trigger and trade Hunter to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 2024 5th Rounder.

Javon Kinlaw DT- San Francisco 49ers

Although the 49ers are doing great, we could possibly see the Niners trade away 2020 1st rounder Javon Kinlaw. Kinlaw has played nowhere close to his expectations of a 1st Rounder. Kinlaw has only recorded 1.5 Sacks in his tenure with the Niners. Kinlaw only played 4 games during the 2021 Season and 6 games in the 2022 Season. The Niners need someone who is reliable and Javon Kinlaw is not.
Javon Kinlaw’s value won’t be extremely high but he could go for a late round draft pick. If Javon Kinlaw does become available for trading, here are some teams that could land him, the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, and Baltimore Ravens. But I predict that the Niners would trade Javon Kinlaw to the Las Vegas Raiders for a 2025 6th Rounder.

Justin Simmons S- Denver Broncos

The Broncos have been a train wreck so far this season and already regretting trading for Russell Wilson and Sean Payton. The Broncos have given up lots of draft capital just for those two people. The Broncos should seriously look into trading players and especially Safety Justin Simmons. Simmons is a 3 time Second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler. Simmons was a Safety drafted in the 3rd Round of the 2016 NFL draft and exceeded his expectations and is one of the best safeties to play in Denver.
Justin Simmons would make an immediate impact for most teams and here are the ones most likely to acquire Simmons. To start with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys, and New Orleans Saints. I do believe if a trade would go down Simmons would get traded to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2026 2nd Rounder.

Garrett Bolles OT- Denver Broncos

Bolles is 31 years old and was a 2017 1st Round pick for the Denver Broncos. Garrett Bolles has been dissatisfied with the losing of this current team and we could see him request a trade out of Denver. Bolles was the Second-team All-Pro in 2020. Obviously Bolles isn’t his old self and has regressed a little bit but he could still play good ball for a team in need of a tackle.
If Garrett Bolles would request a trade he would want to go to a team that wins so here are teams that could possibly be interested in Bolles. The New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, and Seattle Seahawks. Garrett Bolles to Seattle just seems like a perfect fit as the Seahawks are battling an injury bug on their o-line they could definitely use Garrett Bolles and for the price of a 2025 4th Rounder.
Jerry Jeudy WR- Denver Broncos
Yes, the 3rd Denver Bronco. Jeudy hasn’t been playing to his true potential here in Denver and we could see the 15th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft get dealt away. Jeudy would make an incredible WR1 on some teams and a really good WR2 on others. Jeudy has that explosiveness and playmaking ability that the elite WRs have but just doesn’t get to showcase it in Denver.
Teams that could use Jeudy could be, the Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, and New England Patriots. The best fit and opportunity for Jeudy would be Green Bay as he would be the clear Wide Receiver 1 and get targeted by Jordan Love a lot. Green Bay would have to give up a 2024 2nd Rounder for Jerry Jeudy.

DeAndre Hopkins WR- Tennessee Titans

Although Hopkins signed the deal with the Titans this past offseason it is very unlikely for him to get traded but there is always a chance. Hopkins is a 3 time First-team All-Pro, 2 time Second-team All-Pro, 5 time Pro Bowler, and 2017 NFL Receiving Touchdowns leader. Hopkins is 31 years old and could be heading to his 4th team this trade deadline.
DeAndre’s Value won't be high at all but here are some teams that could use the veteran Wide Out. The Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, and Detroit Lions. But with this I believe that the Kansas City Chiefs would trade a 2026 7th Rounder for DeAndre Hopkins.

Devante Adams WR- Las Vegas Raiders

Devante Adams could become Randy Moss 2.0, Moss was traded after a short stint with the Raiders and we could see the same thing happen with Elite WR Devante Adams. Adams is 30 years old and is a 2 time NFL receiving touchdowns leader, 6 time Pro Bowler, and 3 time First-team All-Pro. Devante’s Value would be a mid to late 1st Rounder.
Teams that could be interested in Devante Adams, the Los Angeles Rams, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, New York Giants, Houston Texans, New England Patriots, and New York Jets. Out of these teams I would think it would make sense for the Raiders to Trade Adams to the Houston Texans for a 2025 1st Round pick and it would make sense for both clubs as Raiders get rid of Adams and Texans get C.J Stroud, a new shiny toy in Devante Adams.
Kirk Cousins QB- Minnesota Vikings
Although this is very unlikely and Kirk would have to waive his Trade Clause we could only imagine what teams would like Kirk Cousins. Fans have speculated that the Vikings should Tank for Projected 1st Rounder Caleb Williams. And since Kirk Cousins is in his final year of this contract he might want to go and chase after a ring but wouldn’t be able to in Minnesota.
There is really only one team he could go to and that is the New York Jets. With the Jets Losing Aaron Rodgers in Week 1 they had to rely on QB Zach Wilson and that isn’t quite the best option for them if they want to make a playoff push. The Jets would have to offer their 2023 2nd Round Pick for Kirk Cousins.
Justin Fields QB- Chicago Bears
This is the most unlikely to happen but who knows we aren’t NFL GMs. Fans have been speculating that the Bears will tank for Caleb Willaims the USC QB. Which leaves Justin Fields without a Job. Fields has shown flashes of how great his rushing ability can be on par with Lamar Jackson’s.
I don’t see many teams trading for Justin Fields but if I could have one team trade for him it would be the Atlanta Falcons. Desmond Ridder hasn’t been the greatest QB for the Falcons this year and I could see them trying to get an upgrade at QB by trading for Fields. Arthur Smith’s offense is already run heavy and imagine what they could do with a player like Justin Fields. I would say the Falcons would trade their 2024 3rd Rounder for Justin Fields.
